Limestone from Bali
Warm, textured, naturally imperfect, in all the ways that make a space feel real
Indonesian limestone has a character that manufactured tiles simply can’t replicate. The subtle variation in colour, the natural fossil inclusions, the texture that feels right underfoot: these are the qualities that have made Bali limestone a favourite for architects and interior designers working on high-end residential and commercial projects. The material works particularly well in Mediterranean and warm climates such as Spain, southern France and Australia, where its warm tones complement natural light.

Popular finishes
Honed
Smooth and matte, the most popular for interior floors. Shows the natural colour and fossil inclusions beautifully. Clean, contemporary look.
Tumbled
Edges worn and softened, surface lightly textured. Gives an aged, antique appearance. Very popular for Mediterranean-style interiors and outdoor courtyards.
Bush-hammered
Rough, highly textured surface. Anti-slip. Best for outdoor floors, steps, and pool areas where grip matters.
Natural variation: Limestone colour ranges from near-white to warm cream and golden-beige, depending on the quarry. Fossil inclusions and veining are natural features, not defects. I photograph your specific batch before it ships so you know exactly what you’re getting. That check is part of quality control before shipping.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bali limestone suitable for outdoor use in colder climates?
This depends on the porosity of the specific stone and your climate. High-porosity limestone is not ideal for climates with hard freezing, because water absorption and freeze-thaw cycles can cause surface spalling. For clients in Germany, the Netherlands, or northern Europe I’ll advise on porosity levels and sealing options before you commit, and in many cases lavastone is the safer choice.
What tile sizes do you supply?
Common sizes: 30x30cm, 40x40cm, 60x60cm, 60x30cm, 10x40cm (strip). Custom sizes possible with minimum quantities. I’ll confirm current stock options with suppliers at the time of your order.
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes. For trade and wholesale orders I can arrange samples, either sent to me for photo documentation or, for larger orders, shipped directly to you. Sampling adds time but I always recommend it for stone orders.
Do you handle whole-project stone packages?
Yes. Floors, pool surrounds, cladding and steps are usually specified together. See how I work with hotel and villa projects.
