Supplier verification in Bali, before you pay
It costs far less to verify a supplier before you pay than to chase them after something goes wrong. This is one of the most common calls I get: “I found a supplier on Instagram / Alibaba / at a trade fair. They seem great. Can you check them out before I place an order?” Yes. That’s exactly what I do.
What supplier verification covers
Physical location check
Is the “factory” actually a factory? Or a showroom? Or a middleman who sources from elsewhere and marks up? I visit the address and report what’s actually there.
Production capability
Can they actually produce your order at the volume, timeline, and quality you need? I assess real capacity, not what they claim on a price list.
Quality of existing work
I inspect samples, past orders, and materials on-site. I compare what I see to what they’re promising you.
Supplier references
I ask to speak with existing clients where possible. In Bahasa, in person, the answers are usually more candid than a written testimonial.
My honest recommendation
I tell you whether I’d trust this supplier with my own clients’ money. Plain language, no hedging.
What supplier verification covers: physical location, production capability, work quality, and references. What it doesn’t cover: legal registration status, financial stability, or fraud guarantees. No verification service can guarantee against sophisticated fraud. What I can guarantee is an honest, independent, on-the-ground assessment.
What verification costs, and what it saves
A verification visit costs significantly less than the deposit on a bad order. Most deposits I see clients lose run between USD 2,000 and USD 15,000. The verification visit that would have prevented the loss costs a small fraction of that.

Can you verify suppliers in Java?
My primary network is in Bali. For Java-based suppliers, I may be able to arrange a local contact. Ask me.

How quickly can you do a verification visit?
For standard requests in the Bali area: typically within 3–5 business days of briefing. Urgent requests can sometimes be accommodated. Just ask.
Should I verify every supplier, every time?
No. Verify before a first order with a new supplier, and when the sum at risk is large enough that losing it would hurt. Importers and wholesalers ordering repeatedly from a supplier I already work with do not need this each time.
