Bali Buying Services
Bali Buying Agent: your local representative in Bali
Sometimes clients already know what they want and where to get it. They’ve been to Bali, done their research, have a supplier they like. What they need is someone on the ground to actually manage the relationship: place orders, check quality, coordinate shipping. That’s buying agent work. And it’s different from sourcing.
Sourcing agent vs. buying agent: the difference
A sourcing agent finds suppliers. I do the searching, vetting, and matching. A buying agent manages an existing relationship. You bring the supplier, I manage the execution. In practice, I often do both for the same client across different orders.
As your buying agent, I act as your local representative with your Bali suppliers. You don’t need to fly over for every order. You don’t need to navigate payment systems, language differences, or logistics from another country. I handle the relationship on your behalf, report back to you, and make sure your order is what you agreed on.
What buying agent work looks like in practice
- I place orders with your suppliers on your behalf
- I negotiate price, terms, and timelines in Bahasa Indonesia
- I manage payments through verified channels, protecting your deposit
- I stay in regular contact with the supplier throughout production, including factory and supplier visits while the order is being made
- I conduct quality control before shipping
- I arrange export documentation and shipping and logistics from Bali
- I report back to you with photos and updates at agreed intervals
When a buying agent is the right choice
- You have an established supplier relationship but no local presence
- You’re ordering regularly enough that it needs professional management, which is the usual pattern for importers and wholesalers
- You want someone to hold suppliers accountable without micromanaging from overseas
- You need payment protection and documentation handled properly
Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between a sourcing agent and a buying agent?
A sourcing agent finds suppliers. I do the searching and vetting. A buying agent manages an existing relationship. You bring the supplier, I manage the execution. Many clients use me for both, depending on the order.
Can I use you as a buying agent for a supplier I found myself?
Yes, that’s exactly what this service is for. I’m happy to step in and manage an existing supplier relationship professionally.
How do you protect my deposit?
I never pay a supplier directly from your funds without your approval. All payment milestones are agreed in advance and documented. For new suppliers, I strongly recommend paying in stages tied to production milestones, and I enforce that.
What do you charge?
I charge a commission of 15% on the value of the goods, excluding shipping. That is the rate for everyone, whatever the size of the order. No retainer, no hidden fees, no supplier kickbacks.
