Bali Handicrafts Wholesale

Made by hand, in village workshops that have been doing this for generations

Balinese craft tradition runs deep. Woodcarving, basket weaving, ceremonial painting, mask making. These aren’t tourist-market novelties. They’re living traditions, practiced by families in villages like Mas (woodcarving), Celuk (silverwork), and Bona (basket weaving) who have been at this for generations. The commercial challenge is finding the right workshops, the ones producing quality at a scale that works for wholesale export.

What I source in handicrafts

  • Hand-carved wood sculptures and decorative panels
  • Painted objects, traditional and contemporary designs
  • Woven baskets, trays, and storage items
  • Ceramic and terracotta decorative pieces
  • Shadow puppets and wayang-inspired decorative art
  • Coconut shell and natural material products
  • Silver and mixed-metal decorative objects (from Celuk village)

Most orders combine categories. Handicrafts travel well alongside garden decor and handmade lighting in the same consignment, which brings the freight cost per piece down.

The craft villages of Bali, and where to source what

Mas (near Ubud)

The woodcarving centre of Bali. Family workshops producing everything from small decorative pieces to large sculptural furniture. The quality spectrum here is wide. I know which workshops produce consistently and which ones cut corners.

Celuk

The silver and goldsmithing village. Traditional filigree work and contemporary jewelry. Good for decorative objects if you’re sourcing alongside other categories.

Bona & Belega

Basket weaving and bamboo crafts. Natural material products, woven storage, and household goods.

Batubulan

Stone carving, traditional and contemporary. Close to Denpasar, accessible for visits.

Wholesale vs custom orders

Standard handicraft wholesale means selecting existing designs from workshop stock or catalog. This is faster and requires lower minimum quantities.

Custom orders are possible with most workshops: your shapes, your colours, your sizes, with minimum quantities that vary by product complexity. For custom handicrafts, I manage the entire brief process in Bahasa, oversee the sample, and confirm before production runs.

Most of my handicraft clients are online stores and retailers building a product range. If this is your first order from Bali, start with how I work as a Bali sourcing agent.
